webjedi (247), Silver Spring, Maryland, USA May 18, 2008 Gratis bottle from my father who was over in Germany last year (2007). Nose hits me as smoked bacon. Definite dark pour with a reddish brown tint. Thin off-white head. Sweet, smoky and malty on the nose and tongue. Medium mouthfeel, gravitates towards a bit thin. The smoked sweetness is almost too much, somewhat nauseating, and I’m not getting the hops, but then again, I’m the only American to have had this beer so far... (Bottle Pour 5/18/2008)
pivnizub (3826), Porúří, Germany Dec 29, 2007 Bottle: Clear, deep amber, almost black coloured, huge fluffy brownish head with a little lace, solid sweet dark-malty and roasted-malty nose with a discreet fruitiness and a tinge of hops; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied; almost a tinge of smoke in the sweet and caramelly finish. Good, tasty Dunkel........ Quack-Duck (1756), Bodensee, Germany Nov 4, 2007 bottle, bought at the brewery (3.8% ABV). Brown colour, nearly black, medium-size head. Aroma of malt, roasted malt and caramel. Light-bodied but full of flavour: malt, roasted malt, caramel, toffee. Not overly sweet due to the pleasant amount of hops. Well-balanced and impressively tasty. JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 2, 2005 Redbrown beerr; frothy yellowish head. First a bit bready nose, grassy, greenmalt. Taste again combination of bread, grassy flavours, and bitterish roasted malts notes. Slightly vinous note, liquorice and caramel. Light MF, with some chewiness from the malts, quite refreshing. Quite nice for a light beer. Bit ’stout lite’. Thomas_E (5065), Copenhagen, Denmark Mar 28, 2005 Brown reddish colour with creamy off white head. Sweet malty aroma with caramel notes. Taste is sweet with dark fruits.
