Apr 21, 2007 Smelled of beans. Golden pour with a foamy head. The hop flavor was nice, but overpowered by corn and hay. The hay remains afterward. In my limited experience, this nasty hay flavor seems to be charcteristic of Helles. I don’t mind it in small amounts, but when it is this in your face, it is not for me. I call it "cud beer".

Golden color and a decent head. In the aroma there is something of malt and herbs. It knows to herbs, but rather to dry herbs, probably some spices. The body is average. A slightly "flat" beer, with this I want to say that I will not return to remember.

Apr 14, 2007 Updated: Dec 9, 2008Pours a pale yellow beer with a fairly fast diminishing initial big head. Grassy aromas, the nose reminds me somehow of bacon. Reasonably sweet, medium-bodied, grassy, bready, again some bacon elements... Dry finish. Rerate: The flavor is woody, lightly smoky, buttery with a hint of licorice and bacon. Nice bitterness. Medium bodied. Woody finish. Rather pleasant.

Apr 13, 2007 Bottle. I was buying a mixed six pack, and needed #6. I saw Lowenbrau. Lowenbrau has always kind of been that one beer that was always around that I never had. Decided to buy. Aroma - slight hop, more skunk. Taste is a bit bland and faintly skunky despite an aggressive pour. Really not much there - at least I won’t wonder anymore.

Apr 13, 2007 Can. Light grain malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Nice smooth barley malt and light hops flavor. In Germany, really not a bad beer - pretty good for a Helles.
