Clear yellow, white fizzy head that didn’t stick around too long. Flavor is of mild hops and malt. Really not much to say about this beer. Palat is very poor, extremely watery. Nothing great, but could drink alot of them without getting too bored of it. doubelknv3 (568), Illinois, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2007 I went through many cases of this beer when living in Geneva. A nice Helles that had on many of sessions, such as my annual Brat party. Can taste the malts and hops, with the hoppines getting stronger at the finish, this makes it not as balanced / smooth as some of the other Helles I’ve sampled. drpimento (865), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA

Beery aroma, very clear pale yellow lager. Sweet at first, then bitter. nice. pours with a nice head that fades to light cover, no lace. Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Canned at Nordic Club, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Pale yellow, faint head. Papery malty aroma. Sweet with reasonably soft mouthfeel and meduim body. Cardboardy malt flavor, very light grassy hoppiness . Low bitterness. Not good, but getting new ratings in Bangladesh is a difficult art form. scanovajr (361), Stanford, California, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Updated: Jan 1, 2008Oh how many times I’ve had this original as the premium beer of the night, always accepted as one of the first craft beers of many. But it has actually been a couple of years since I had one. Good chance to remind myself what this beer is really like. I rate as I drink and not from memory. I can’t remember what this taste like anyhow. Green 12 oz bottle. Aroma surprisingly is not skunky, they must turn enough of these to keep them pretty fresh. Pour is like any other pale yellow american beer but not excessively bright yellow. Taste is complex and appears out of the background haze of interesting combinations. The last dortmunder I had was GL dort gold. This Lowen is much better than that. More refreshing and enjoyable, Lowen also lacks the bitter hop personality that I recall with GL. Carbonation is good and entertaining with a little blast after each slug. This beer gives me a fresh outlook on other dort/helles that I have not tried because I thought I knew the style only after tasting one brand beer. The light finish on this brew makes it almost easily repeatable. There is a mild unidentifiable linger personality that fades after a minute or two.
