TaxiDriver (908), Stadland, Germany Oct 15, 2009 Bottle. The smell is very malty, bread and caramel, a very soft touch of smoke. Nearly no head, a dark red body. The taste is very malty, a little bit bitter. The body is medium strong without much carbonation and fizzy-creamy. Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam Aug 9, 2009 Clear dark brown. Fairly rich aroma with toffee and lots of dark sugars. Simple dark malt character with chewy toffee. The body is a shade light for the style, but the malt richness compensates for this. Decent. Beershine (2677), Hue, Vietnam Jul 20, 2009 Bottle. Red-brown and dark with small head that does not last long. Aromas are simple and sweet with some cola and berries. Not enough bread for me. Thin palate with low carbonation. Flavors are a little tart with some berries. Cherry cola and cheap chocolate covered cherry. Not for me, gets worse by the sip. Madsnp (607), Odense C, Denmark Jul 15, 2009 Bottle at Delirium Café, Brussels. Pours deep dark brown coloured with a reddish hue and fine bubbly off white head. Aromas of rye bread, chocolate, dried fruit, caramel and rich maltyness. Flavours of sweet malt, rye bread, chocolate, toffee and semi roasted malt. Delicious and complex. kappldav123 (1788), Markkleeberg, Germany Jul 13, 2009 The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Deep black, creamy head. Starts really strong, but not alcoholic. More dry then spicy, not really sweet. Finish malty, not too roasty, a bit sourish. Very drinkable and good doppelbock! mcdav2154 (289), Germany Jul 12, 2009 Poured a deep dark red color with a tan head. Good lacing. Smell was not strong but I did get some malt. Taste was great. Full of caramel and raisin with some smoke. Creamy mouthfeel and a nice tang on the back of the tongue. Great Doppelbock and I can’t wait to have more. rmussman (905), California, USA Jul 1, 2009 A very interesting brew. Not the best doppelbock that I had while in Germany however it was full of flavor. Very dark beer with brown frothy head. Unique and good.
