Rich amber, small head. Strawberry hints to a fruity aroma. Big malty taste, fruity too - probably a perfect breakfast rather than Alpen. Sweetness and alcohol both there, but in a positive capacity. KnutAlbert (3217), Oslo, Norway

Warming bock, dried fruit and chewy cereals. Deceivingly smooth and easy drinking. Coca-cola flavour. Slayer85 (590), Firenze, Italy
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 23, 2008 Draught. A clear dark amber beer with a big, persistent, light brown head. Rather malty aroma with notes of caramel and toasted malt. The flavour is sweet with much caramel, some fruitiness and a light herbal hoppy touch. Medium to full body, average carbonation, long finish with light bitterness. A little bit of alcohol is felt. Typical sweet Doppelbock, enough flavourful and tasty, even if not the best in its style. darkseduction (206), Zweibrücken, Germany

Hides alcohol very well, grainy, malty flavours dominate. Few hops, very subtle. A good industrial made beer for mainstream taste, i miss the soul in this beer. Sweet malts dominate but there is some roasted bitterness which is more apparent here than in most of the other Doppelbocks I’ve had thus far, molasses and a sprinkling of grated chocolate join the party late on, but this wasn’t a patch on some of the Doppelbocks I’d tried. Sweet, caramelly aroma with some nuts and mild alcohol. Medium bodied. Flavor is overly sweet with this caramel and toffee, nuts in aftertaste, only some dry hops in aftertaste. Rather one-dimensional and too sweet for my taste, expected more from this doppelbock. jeverszeuge (183), Germany

Sweet aroma of red fruits, toffee and candied orange. Flavour was also sweet with more fruit, caramel and warming alcohol. Finish was hoppy and bitter. Very enjoyable.
