Thanks to Josh for sharing this one. Pours a deep brown with lots of ruby/amber notes and a smaller bubbly white head. Aroma of dark fruits, cardboard, nuts, lightly roasted/toasty malt and a touch of vanilla. Flavor of roasted malt, light coffee, vanilla, caramel, toffee and nuts.

Cask. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty and quite roasted with lighter notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish.

On tap at LL in Portland--Dark black-brown body with a fluffy off-white head. Roasted, coffee nose. Creamy, a little spicy from the hops like most LL beers. Chocolaty, liquorish, toffee yumminess.

Cask @ Horse Brass Pub: Dark brown, near black, with a large, creamy brown head. Aroma is soft with roasted malt and light coffee. Flavor adds a bit of dark fruity and bittersweetness. Creamy texture and finished well.

draft @ brewery - pitch black with slight tan head; roasty aromas of malts, sweet chocolate and coffee; sweetness lingers in the flavors of primarily chocolate, malts and just a touch of hops; drinks fairly smooth with dry aftertaste

These lucky lab places in Portland are really neat. Picknick tables and good brew. This stout is rich and iteresting with loads of liquorice and roasted flavor. Finished with a great coffee flavor and slick mouthfeel without being too sweet.
