Commercial Description:
Lucky Lager was introduced to beer drinkers in 1934. The name Lucky was selected from a name-search contest. Fully fermented in Bohemian-style tradition and slightly darker in colour than regular brands, Lucky uses select ingredients and hops to deliver a slightly sweeter taste than most lagers.

Short version of the Lucky Lager story: the brand was founded by General Brewing in California. This was folded into a consortium led by three BC breweries. General Brewing later split off from the consortium and was eventually brought into the Pabst fold. The BC breweries later became Labatt's and thus there are two lines of ownership of the Lucky Lager brand. The brand is today more prevalent in Canada, especially British Columbia.

I’m pretty much basing this on my recollection of this beer back in the 70’s. I was pretty young prior to this and remember my dear ol’ dad used to have this in the frige all the time, so I started to drink it in the 70’s when it was still under the old lable and I remember it being pretty good. Great flavor, aroma, a good palate and not too expensive.

Bottled, 355ml? cheers Glenn. Pale yellow, fizzed head. Corny, grainy, cardboard, everything that is bad in a poorly produced lager. Carbonated and pasteurised to death. Really pretty bad.

Pours a straw yellow with not much head. Nose is very faint, and very corn. Flavour is lots of corn and other vegetables. It is fizzy like a lager should be, but it is not really that good. It might be an acceptable session beer, but I am sure you could do better.

Pours a medium golden yellow color. Aromas of metal, corn, and some minor hop action. Flavor is kind of metallic, with cheerios and hops.

I can remember friend shoplifting this stuff from the local Lucky’s store before high school parties. Looks like urine, smells like urine, tastes like mule dung.
