ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 3, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark hazy amber. Dates, prunes, and other dark fruits lead into a candy sweetness. Finishes with an unpleasant metallic note.
stoutchap (293), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 8, 2007 On tap. Dark brown pour, tan head. Non-remarkable aroma. Had the taste of a dubbel - Mediterranean fruits, malts, a little alcohol, but I thought the mouthfeel was a little weak, not terribly weak, but a little weak. Improved as it warmed. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Aug 8, 2005 Hazy cherry-chestnut in color with a speckled creamy tan head. Aroma is a bit off - sour chocolate and cocoa powder, some barnyard and peat, caramel and tangy hazelnut casings. Flavor proves better than aroma indicated, with predominant chocolate milk filling to docket. Other elements include cocoa powder, caramel macchiato, and some spicy chai mocha traits. Tasty enough, but a dubbel? Cornfield (4467), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2005 Served in a goblet, this is a deep brown color with a thick tan head and an aroma of sweet caramel malt, rock candy, and chocolate. Making a hardy mouthfull of mouthfeel, this has a candied malt and chocolate flavor with dark dried fruits, brown sugar, and alcohol. It’s got a sticky, peppery finish. I like.

Lunar Brewing Company, Villa Park, IL
