pours pale golden no head, aroma is not appealing smells musty and like old bottled sugar water with alcohol present, the taste reflects its aroma, but the alcohol is not present at all, very boring, sweet watery flavor, yuck.

This, being my 2nd ever rating of mead, is still a learning process. I’m not quite sure mead is my thing, but I know I haven’t had the great ones yet either. Straw colored in a wine glass. Still. Aroma initially shocking, a solventy alcoholic blast - but after habituating to that I could sense the rounded honey presence. Much like a sweet wine, it was a sipper (I started out chilled per label suggestions but it got nearly to room temp before I finished a 4-5oz serving). The flavor was marked by a significant pure honey flavor, plus alcohol. I enjoyed it enough to pour a second serving, but then vacuum sealed the remainder. Perhaps aging will help the alcoholic side...am anxious to try the aged meads like Apis Jadwiga.

Poured from a 375ml bottle. Appearance is a dull yellow with no bubbles, head or lacing. Aroma consists of a hint of honey. The taste is sweet and mellow with almost no alcohol burn (despite the 12.5% alcohol by volume). Aftertaste is slightly dry and by no means cloying. Very refreshing and satisfying.

A nice fruity smell, a nice yellow color with no head. First taste of this liquid taste alot like a sweet dry wine. Drank this one too quick and was floating the rest of the night. Must get another bottle.

Mead, in some ways, bridges the gap between wine and beer, This bottle poured a light yellow, crystal clear liquid that looked a lot like a chardonnay. No carbonation, no head. The aroma was amazing. My nose was overwhelmed by the presence of orange and clover honeycomb. The body was light with a silky smooth texture and the flavors, again, are dominated by orange honeycomb. The middle was dry and the finish was long lasting and dry as well.

Vintage 2000

375 ml bottle poured a clear, golden yellow with absolute flatness. Interesting aromas... floral and ciderish with over-ripe apple and pear, honey, wine and a touch of oil paint. Well-masked ABV, but not in the flavor which was heavily potent and sweet. Thick mouth presence and enjoyable as a warming apertif.

2000 vintage. A golden color, very pale. Sweet floral honey and alcohol aroma. Sweet flavor, with a lot of honey in the aftertaste. Different, first mead I’ve tried. Very sweet.

My 500th. Lets see if its any good. Pale yellow, no head. Sweet aroma, reminds me almost of champaigne (or however you spell that). *sip* Bleah! Overpoweringly sweet, and I normally like sweet. As it warmed a little bit, the sweetness seemed to mellow a little, and the honey taste started to come through. Still far too sweet to be enjoyable though.
