The aroma is very sweet and mainly honey. The taste is also very, very sweet with no sign of alcohol. Nice and smooth going down. I like sweet drinks and I like honey, I like many drinks with honey in them, but the sweetness here seemed unbalanced and a little overpowering. I will have to try some more meads and then perhaps come back, drink this again and rerate. BDR (2162), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Sweet floral honey nose on this pale yellow mead. Crystal clear. Clover and sweet honey flavor. Hints of citrus in there as well. The sweetness hides the alcohol well. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA

Very dry taste--much like a wine. Mostly floral flavor, with very light honeysuckle. No hint of 12.5%. rajendra82 (704), Alpharetta, Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 17, 2007 After trying the Braggot from Atlantic Brewing Company a while back, and liking it, I decided to venture into the depths of this ancient beverage style, and try a traditional mead. The Christmas Mead from Lurgashall came in a clear, corked bottle that was a showcase for the clarity of the liquid. After I uncorked the bottle, I decided to taste it first without the enclosed spice packet. The mead poured out still, and crystal clear. The color was like diluted honey, which obviously was no surprise. The smell was musty and sweet, and since there were no hops used, there was very little complexity noticeable to this beer drinker’s nose. The taste was sweeter than I was anticipating. The honey was clearly evident here, and there wasn’t much else to balance things out. Even after adding the spices, I found the taste quite one dimensional. Maybe it’s just me, but this mead didn’t quite do it for me. I guess I prefer my drinks more dry. When mulled, the sweetness became much less cloying, and it was far more enjoyable. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA

This was my first mead and this seemed pretty impressive to me for only being a 3.02. Aroma was a little white winish and also some sweetness and honey. Very good palate. Sweet but still pretty light but the alcohol was covered pretty well. Tmoney99 (4751), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
