sliffy (1952), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle: Pours a clear light golden yellow. Aroma, honey, some spices, whisky. Flavor, light sweetness, hint of honey, some heat, whisky notes on the back end.
nick76 (2180), Tampa, Florida, USA Dec 7, 2008 The aroma has what seems like rancid honey and very little whiskey. The appearance is straw gold and very clear. The taste is like the aroma with more whiskey than in the aroma and the mead is sweet and funky. The palate is thin with alcohol burn finish. Overall this one is a bust. dchmela (903), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2008 Pours a clear and slightly gold yellow. Slightly thinner than most meads I have had. Aroma is a bizarre mixture of peat, whiskey, apple and honey aroma, yet they don’t seem to connect as well as i would have liked. Taste is much better. Lots of apple and honey with hints of scotch whiskey. Very smooth tasting, looks great in the glass. Deceptively strong. Good, but I am not a fan of the aroma. 1FastSTi (2432), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA Sep 11, 2008 Thanks for sharing this Jason. Notes mostly from memory because the notes I have were laundered. Clear golden body with a lot of legs. The aroma has a nice clover, buttercup flowers, and something I couldn’t pinpoint but that was likely the whisky. The mouthfeel was pretty good and coating. Easy drinking with nice floral honey flavors and buttercup. Ughsmash (3148), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 25, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with no head and some solid legs. The aroma had sweeter honey and lavender upfront with warm, non-descript whisky spiciness toward the back.. interesting, but well-presented integration of the whisky. The flavor had sweeter honey and floral at the core with darker honey and just a light impression from the whiskey toward the back.. finished grainier and warm. Heavier-bodied and syrupy on the palate with a sweeter complexion.. a bit too sweet and strong without the necessary elements to balance it.. albeit warm and satisfying overall.
