| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 11, 2007 2005 Vintage: Pour a pale yellow color. Aroma is very interesting and aromatic w/ a defined honey presence. Other aromas of tart wild green apples, whiskey, and nuts. A medium bodied wine w/ a very complex nature. It’s multi-layered w/ a thick honey sweetness that rolls over your palate coating it with lucious flavors of honeycomb, vanilla, must, and nuts. Then, almost simultaneously w/ just a slight delay this unruly tart, acidic, crispness that washes away the sweetness leaving the palate w/ a strict tartness. This is where the rum and whiskey spirits come in scaring the palate w/ a lingering hot alcohol bittering. Flavors of unrippended green stone fruit and apples, cherries, and lemony cakebread. There is also an unmistakable aroma and flavor of a gasious nature, very much like a German Reisling. This is a nice wine. It takes some getting used to but the acid balanced out the sweetness, almost to well. Great for after dinner or for your date. If you like Madiera, you’ll appreciate this. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Sweet, honey nose with a touch of earthy wood, vanilla and maybe rum. The flavor is sweet up front with lots of honey, followed by an alcoholic, tangy, dryness. Full-bodied and syrupy with the tiniest rumor of carbonation. Finishes sweet, then warm and dry. I like it. A sipper for certain. schwaiger (90), Laramie, Wyoming, USA

Looks like a white wine spritzer somebody left in the sun and the ice cubes melted. Yup. That’s it. You can get an appreciation for the syrupy texture just by looking at it. No head, no bubbles. Bigtime honey aroma (well, yeah) and big alcohol. Some whiskey, dust, and juniper berries, but almost totally masked by the honey and alcohol. Heavily sweet of honey, dry, alcoholic finish. | 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | May 15, 2006 aroma is sweet turpentine - apearance is yellow - almost like a white wine. There is no carbonation - the flavor is a delicate blend of sweet honey and fruit, but it is overpowered with a stong alcohol content and bitter aftertaste. It was interesting to check out this most ancient beverage, but i dont think i will be having a libationary experence with a mead anytime soon. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England

A friend bought this for me for Christmas and I have been savingit for a special occasion, which for me is Easter Sunday late afternoon. Let me straight away that I love mead. This is deep luminous gold wiht no head. Some nail varnish (acetone) but then nutty nougat. Thick unctious in mouth with rich honey and then white choc, nougat and praline. Deep, rich and satisfying, but light and agile at the same time. Oh and then it is very sweet. Rather gorgeous Cornfield (4942), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 16, 2005 This smells like honeycombs, wax and all. Mingled with that is a woody, earthy aroma with some rock candy sweetness. The body is an ultra-pale gold and there’s no signs of carbonation. This is very smooth and warm in the mouth. The taste is honey, alcohol, damp soil, whiskey, and hard woods. The finish is sweet, but very, very dry. Alcohol warmth fills the mouth and sinuses. This is a mead I will definitely be drinking again.

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 18, 2005 My first mead, so this may be a little off. This stuff was, well, interesting. Pours yellow with no head, almost looks like a glass of chardonnay. Aroma is paint thinner. Taste is very sweet on the lips, then comes the bombardment of alcohol burn. I dont think I like meads, maybe this was a bad example.
