wxman (497), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Aug 25, 2008 I’m sure this is the beer I had. The label is similar and it was a 7% ABV lager, but it was called "Special" vs. ’Strong". Maybe the word strong scared some away. This pours a slightly cloudy, pale yellow with a fairly decent white head. Barely noticable grainy and wet bread nose. Taste is sweet malt, bread dough, alcohol, minor hops and a little funk. OK for a malt liquor.
Cletus (3593), Connecticut, USA Jul 30, 2008 Pours gold with a thin white head. Smells of corn, lots of adjuncts, sweet malt. Tastes of corn. This is malt liquor at its worst. Eructoblaster (1288), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jul 11, 2008 Bottle - 500ml. Boring golden body with thin white frothy head. Aroma is misbalanced (too sweet) and carries bad alcohol and corny hints. Malty/hoppy taste ends with a short bittersweet finish. Very boring. Slipstream (479), USA Jun 6, 2008 Updated: Jul 30, 2008Half-liter bottle, English language label calling it "Lvivske Special." Gold pour with a cheery topper. Full, sweet aroma with some hops and a touch of low-tide skank. The flavor is sweet, but not adventurously so. It is a cheap, sugary sweetness mixed with a strong dose of boiled corn. Disappointing, especially in comparison with Lvivksa’s excellent porter. I only recommend this if you like alcoholic corn soda pop. Feh. JorisPPattyn (4690), Antwerpen, Belgium Apr 9, 2008 Deep golden, clear beer with a good, just yellowish tinted head. Immediate fruity nose, with some grain & malt. Faint herbal nose, fruitiness keeps going (apples, raspberries). Terrible, aggressive, hot malts flavour, toasted malts, adjuncts, even some ammonium-like "flavour" and MF. Earth, covered with graindust and drenched with ammonium - ouch. Alcohol obvious. Something salty as well, astringent; Terrible malt likker.
