Rastacouere (5421), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Feb 17, 2008 Tap@Vices et Versa. Dark sand coloured ale. Frothy, tall off-white head. Considerably herbal, soft and spicy aromas. Earthy. Rather dark malt flavours for what aims at being a Saison. Rounding residual sugars are running wild. Minimally wheaty. Comfortable large-bubbled carbonation. Soft, yet bit bubbles. Toasty, spicy, peppery flavour profile. Pleasant yeastiness. Growing complexity. Quite mineral, almost meaty/salty in the finish. Do not expect a Saison for it is not, but as a belgian ale, this was a competent example. MartinT (4497), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Dec 19, 2007 My Bottom Line:
Fruity honey latches on to orange peels, as herbal hop bitterness wisely segues a caramel malt surge in this clever and respectable Belgian Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam quickly sinks into the hazy copper.
-The body is slender, but never thin; the level of residual sugar is pleasant, yet this is rather sweet to be billed as a Saison.
-Coriander seeds (or grains of paradise?) and herbal hoppiness are properly calculated and create complexity.
-An earthy smoke seems to rise from the combination of darker malts and leafy spices.
-This is nothing like a Saison imho, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a decent Belgian Ale nonetheless.
