pdxmickey (33), Spokane, Washington, USA Oct 7, 2007 Had on Tap at the Peacock room at the Davenport hotel in Spokane, WA. This was a nice complex beer with many aromas and flavors involved. The head had nice lacing and body sitting on top of a beautiful crystal amber color. The flavors were also numerous with a nice hoppy finish. Indra (2023), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Sep 29, 2007 Draft at Ducks and Drakes, Leavenworth. Nose is full of caramel, nuttiness, faint wood and earth, some very light floral, fruity hop as well. Deep orange-amber color, translucent, with a thin head but nice lacing. Flavor profile is nicely balanced with light apple and citrus fruits, toasty bread, sweet and nutty caramel malts and a gentle spicy bitterness. Moderately effervescent with a medium body. Sort of an exercise in balance. BigMook (7), tacoma, Washington, USA does not count Sep 23, 2007 My favorite amber. I am glad I can only get it on tap, I hope they keep it that way, somehow knowing I can only get it at my favorite bar makes it taste like a reward. If I could only drink one beer for the rest of my life, I would be okay if it were Mac and Jacks African Amber. Keep it up boys, you are doing a great job. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Sep 17, 2007 16oz draft 5/13/07(Sharp’s Roaster & Ale house)-A cloudy amber body with a decent white head. Aroma of nothing. Hoppy and malty in a funky taste with a roasted malt finish. taste not bad but a little funky being unfiltered. Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Sep 16, 2007 9/15/07 on draught at the Garage, Seattle. Aroma is sweet malt, caramel, and light hop fruit. Appearance is a very hazy light brown with a moderate off white head. Mouthfeel is lightly grainy with a medium carb feel and a slightly textured finish. Overall, a great amber with a nice grainy and sweet complexity. Ernest (4481), Boulder, Colorado, USA Aug 18, 2007 Draught, Africa Lounge, Sea-Tac airport. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is hazy medium amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot, resin), with a note of gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Ho-hum example...couldn’t finish a pint due to sheer boredom, but it’s ok. theisti (1640), Leawood, Kansas, USA Aug 16, 2007 Updated: Aug 25, 2008Draft at The Garage in Seattle. Pour is reddish amber with a bit of cloudiness. Off white head that faded rather quickly. The aroma is slightly roasted malt and some nice citrus hops. The initial taste was a bit sour, which surprised me. I had three pints of this, and all started this way, and by the 2nd or 3rd sip wasn’t present anymore. After the initial sour, a nice malt backbone was revealed with a very clean pine hop bitter finish. This was a decent session beer for the purpose. pantani (1894), Salinas, California, USA Aug 5, 2007 Draft at the Mariners game. Aroma is caramel, nice maltiness to it. Taste has a nice hoppiness to it, with plenty of maltiness, caramel, light nuttiness.
