Recently revisited - spicier than what I remember, added an edge that detracted from the sweet malt backbone.
Resampled again 6/9/2007 - Had it fresh out of a growler from the brewery. It was a very fresh batch and one that really embodied every great thing about this drink. Heavy, rich, roasted barley dominated well with some sweet molasses notes. Very creamy and smooth.
8/4/2007 - The more I drink this the more I realize how inconsistent it can be from batch to batch. Get the right one and its among the best, get the wrong and youll find it too thin or overhopped or overspiced. Ill keep my rating where it is for the finest example ive tried.
8/19/2007 - Another growler downed, this time a little thinner with a stronger caramel cereal malt base. a less impressive variant of a great drink. I estimate by this rating that I have drank over five gallons of this the past 12 months.
01/17/2008 - Another gallon down, another coming up this weekend.... Like the new Retail shop section of the brewery - where can I get one of those signs?
1/21/2009 - Melon components seem more pronounced than ever; you really need to get this stuff fresh to enjoy. Dhrjericho (66), Boise, Idaho, USA

It has a great aroma of citrus and hops and and astonishing citrus hop spiced flavor. You can find this great beer served at your next Seattle Mariners game. rm0312 (36), Idaho, USA

I had never heard of it at that point so I had no preconceived notions. I was very pleased with every aspect - dark brown color, hoppy aroma and taste, great finish and goes well with several foods. I have had it since at Safeco Field - it even went well in a plastic cup (something I try to avoid with any drink). Great beer...one of my favorite ambers. scrizzz (1351), kirkland, Washington, USA

I obsessed trying to find it my entire time in Seattle and finally had it in the airport after I missed my flight home... Sooo worth it... Cloudy red orange, like honey... Aroma is pure liquid amber malt, the type you put in homebrew....Flavor is honey, malts, with a gentle hoppiness that stays on the palate... The definition of a west coast amber.... Grass is the pre-dominant flavor, but there are serious citrus undertones as well. Easily the best amber ale I’ve ever tasted and it’s a dear wish of mine that the brewery will start bottling it.
Note: Over the last year or so I’ve noticed some off flavors in this one, not sure if we’ve just been getting bad kegs or what, but I haven’t gotten the same awesomeness out of it lately. Hopefully the greatness I remember will return soon!
