yngwie (3893), Kristiansand, Norway Dec 31, 2008 Bottle, kindly provided by Rune. A clear, dark amber beer with a dense, tan head. Black pepper, roasted malts, wood, some smoke getting stronger, and notes of juniper in the aroma. Some sour notes in the mouth, full-bodied and nicely carbonated. Flavors of black pepper without being pepper spiced, roasted malt, wood, juniper and some smoke. Long peppery finish. Just lovely, sure the best Mack I’ve had so far. (081003) OleR (1434), Oslo, Norway Dec 5, 2008 330 ml cobalt-blue, unlabelled bottle, kindly provided by Rune. Huge, mostely lasting lightly tanned head. Smells like a hike in the Norwegian mountains, birch juice, black berries, wet wood, resin, and a faint whiff of toasted caramel. Slim body concidering the relatively high alcohol strenght. Taste is sour-sweet ashy malts with a berry-ish fruitiness. Notes of bitter chocolate and licorice. Discreet hopbitterness. Ongoing tart fruity, light bitter ending. Stunning, this must be the infamous Arctic Porter... larsga (2473), Oslo, Norway Dec 1, 2008 Huge light brown shiny head. Hazy reddish brown body. Light roasty resiny pine needle notes. Dry-sweetish chocolatey tomato taste with spicy pine needle notes. Fullish body. Dryish lightly acidic pine needle aftertaste. Nice, but lightly infected. Got it just in time. (0.33l bottle from KnutAlbert via Rune. Thank you, Rune!) KnutAlbert (2583), Oslo, Norway Nov 27, 2008 Bottle, thanks a lot to Rune for bringing this.
Fire aroma of roasted grain. Quite fruity, a little smoke, coffee, a hint of cocoa. Prunes.
Lovely, quite complex, their best beer by far - I’d like this brewed on a regular basis. Chocolate aftertaste. faroeviking (4711), The Autonomous Beer Republic,, Faroe Islands Nov 18, 2008 Nice blue bottle. Pitch black colour. Aroma of chocolate and fruits with roasted malt. Good mouthfeel. The flavour has a very pleasant fruity chocolate and roasty maltiness with a good soft bitterness. Thank Yngvar!
