Commercial Description:
Available filtered and pasteurised in cans.
Originally brewed by Mackeson of Hythe in Kent in 1910. This is the first beer to use milk sugar to produce a Milk Stout. The Mackeson brewery was eventually acquired by Whitbread, which in turn was taken over by Interbrew who produced the beer at their Magor brewery in Wales. Now contract brewed for Interbrew by Youngs.
"The Original & Genuine."

Bottle. Poured black with a thick tan head. Slight aroma of malt. Sweetish malt taste, thin body, thinnish finish. A rather ordinary stout.

Can @ home. Nice black colour, creamy head. Sweet nose, roasted malts. Taste is initially of roasted malts, coffee and some bitterness, but gets really sweet in the end. The sweetness stays. Soft and full mouthfeel, but this is too sweet for my liking.

Pours a thick tar-coffee like beer with tan ale. Aroma is roasted malts with chocolate. Flavor is malts and chocolate. Body is super light for this style but it’s still decent. Carbonation is medium.

Tin from Tesco. Never had this before as it was always overpriced but they’ve dropped the price so here goes. Wow this is great. Fantastic roasted toffee malt aroma with a roasted sweet body and a fairly bitter sweet finish. Lovely
