| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2008 12-oz. Black. Thick, surging, gorgeously moussy burnt orangeish/tan head. Falls quickly to a slim slice of foam with intermittent lacing. Dusty, chocolatey, pruney nose--not a very strong nose, though. Medium, soft, slightly creamy body. Not much carb. Sweet, fruity, chocolatey mid-palate. Mild, clinging, sweet finish. Not super dimensional or unique, but very tasty and easy drinking. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2008 Mildly roasty, very sweet. Smooth body, palate is nice, but not overly thick. Flavor is pretty mono-dimensional though, not a whole lot going on. Defintely taste the lactose added in. Biggest problem is the sugar tends to dry out your mouth and make phlegm. soulgrowl (52), Kitakyushu-shi, Japan
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 20/20 | May 7, 2008 Aroma: Malted milk, prunes, chocolate, coffee, a bit of hazelnut and a butterscotchy caramel character. Overall, reminds me of Milk Duds.
Appearance: Black like black cherries, with a brown sugary head. A very eye-catching, impactful appearance.
Flavor: Oh my god... it’s like a chocolate malt! Actually, it’s like a chocolate malt diluted with a bit of espresso. Very smooth, milky, and bittersweet. An odd mineral taste that intrudes on the palate keeps me from giving this one a perfect 5, but it is very delicious.
Palate: Full-bodied withouth being overwhelming or cloying, but could be a bit thicker and creamier to match the taste.
Overall: Exceptionally drinkable, especially for $4.99 a six-pack at Trader Joe’s! I’ll deftinitely buy this one again. FlagstoneHill (211), Erie, Colorado, USA
