Have to swirl the glass to maintain a nice molasses and cookie scent. Trace of cinnamon? Flavour is gentle rich chocolate, molasses and light spice. Spice is ginger or nutmeg. Like drinking a soft chocolate cookie. Perm (151), Tryon, North Carolina, USA

Appearance: Dark, dark, dark. Darker than a black steer’s tuckuss
on a moonless prairie night. The opposite of clarity.
Nose: Soy sauce. Don’t let this dissuade you, though, because...
Taste: Surprise! It’s easy to drink. And tasty and enjoyable. Ahh, the British and their beers.
Finish: so, so smooth.

Dark brown with a reasonably thick light brown head. Smells a bit lagerish, and a little bit roasty. Good creamy mf, light roast that gets more acrid and bitter as it goes. Decent, with some "foreign" character but the charred notes and low abv place it more as a regular stout. 4-5-7-3-13=3.2
USA Brewed by Sam Adams. Very dark reddish-brown. Medium brown head. Fudgey, crackery aroma with a strong vanilla accent component...like store brand ice cream that’s been sitting in the freezer a shade too long. Soft, smooth body. Roasty notes of Taiwanese iced coffee . Sweet, but not simple nor boring. Mix of milkiness, smoothness and firm roast. This adds a bit of fudgy chocolate. Solid brew...no complaints. 7-4-8-4-16 = 3.9 RedSox2004 (362), Pacific Palisades, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Poured thick and black with a dark brown head that lasted throughout. Completely opaque.
Strong roasted malt aroma with no hops noted.
Taste was sweet - toffee, a bit of chocolate and roasted caramel (if there is such a thing - but that describes it).
A Trader Joe’s special, that store often disappoints with its beers, but this one is a winner.

Aroma of lactose, roasted malts, and light chocolate. Taste was sweet, lactose, caramel, roasted malts, smoke, and a bit of chocolate in the finish.
