Mackeson XXX Stout

Very dark beer. Dark tan head as well; medium size; a bit lasting. Aroma: chocolate malts and lactose sweetness. Taste & Finish: Same as the aroma. There was a sweet flavor in there that gave a kind of cooked/creamed corn flavor like DMS would give. I’m blaming it on the lactose.

black w/ brown lace, sweet brown sugar, not roasty but spicey, not enough bitters and at this point my notes are unintellegable... it looks like it says pacific something but that doesn’t make any sense...

I see that this is a sweet stout, but for me it is too sweet. Maybe it is because it was following Old Rasputin. It looked good but again too sweet.

Bottle. Pours a dark black with tan head and a hint of red. Aroma is sweet malts with coffee and chocolate. Creamy/oily body with espresso and toasted chocolate. Fairly sweet, but still fantastic. I’m starting to realize that I really like sweet stouts and milk stouts.

Aroma – Dark malt aroma with a huge sweetness also.
Appearance – Dark brown in color, clear with a nice head.
Flavor – This was a decent stout in my opinion. Good overall malty flavors.
Palate – I liked the flavors this was weet and a tad to sweet in the finish but overal a good beer.
Overall –The beer was easy to drink the stout flavors where rich, tad to sweet but overall not bad.

Poured a very dark brown color with a small creamy tan head. The aroma was sweet and creamy with roasted malt and chocolate. The flavor was fairly sweet with a light roast. Milky sweet finish with a light bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel and a medium body.

Whoa! i’m hoping i got a bad batch and that’s probably the case,i’ll admit i’m not in to creamy foamy beer like guiness/bodngtns,but this stuff was nasty, i was supposed to split this wif a friend,but i had to finish the 6 solo(like a champ),when homeboy took a sip and bailed on it.one-uh-these-days i’m gonna bring myself to try again,but i’ve been burned.i’m a beer drinker for sure, i’ve tried damn near 1,000 beers i’ll even drink crap from the big 3(gimme belgians),and find it hard to say anything negitive about most imports/micros, most mimic classics(fine by me) a few are truly original.as it stands,i’d have to say this is the worst tasting beer i’ve ever had.but the high ratings definately tempt me to give it a 2nd chance.until then...

Poured a opaque black with frothy beige head. Delicious aroma of toffee, dark fruits and coffee. Had an equally good flavor with a decidely round mouthfeel.
