| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 18, 2009 This is a beer that I wanted to like much more than I did. It was beautiful as it poured and its aroma was sweet and thick. When I tasted it I realized that it really was sweet and thick. It is just a bit too sweet and a bit too thick for me. To be fair, I am not a big fan of stouts. kopher (309), New York, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2008 Pours a pitch black with tan/dark brown substantial head. Minimum retention and lacing.
Smells of brown sugar and burn malts.
Right out of the fridge the tastes don’t really come through very well. As the brew warms, however, the sweet brown sugar and espresso flavors come through in a big way. Bitterness was more apparent when it was colder, but dies away as it warms.
I could sip this one down fairly quickly, but due to it’s fairly full body I could not have too many in a sitting. Definitely a desert brew, be it with desert or preferably as one. A fine brew overall. Not my favorite stout but it’s, my first of the style...will definitely have to try some more.
