Malty sweet aroma of chocolate, and a hint of coffee, yet a little muted. However, the sweet chocolate came through in the flavor very nicely. Body was medium, and this beer left a nice aftertaste and pleasant mouthfeel. mcclenw (36), Stevenson, Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 18, 2007 This is a pretty good stout. Even though it is distributed by Sam Adams. This brew has a nice color when poured, nice head, overall nutty taste. Smooth and great for the winter months. Although I have had some better porters/stouts locally this is a good one if you are looking for a bit of a mass produced stout other than the big brands. Easy to find. drumdude73 (15), Ames, Iowa, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 14, 2007 One of my favorite stouts. Rich bodies and full of flavor; chocolate, coffee, caramel. Smooth finish and wonderful tones. A must have for a stout lover! bhensonb (4360), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Aroma of coffee along with chocolate. Deep brown/black color with a tan head that did not persist, but left slight lacing. Flavor starts with coffee/chocolate (light) and moves quickly to a smoothly toasted malt. Levels off to a light burnt toast character. Firm mouthfeel. I think there is a light bitterness other than the burnt, because there seems to be an edge of the tongue bitter reaction. With the passge of time there is sweetness arising as the bitterness passes. Interesting stuff. thefederalist (227), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA

Aroma is nice and chocolatey, with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet which contributes to a syrupy mouthfeel. Behind that are some very complex flavors: chocolate, coffee, cream, burned flavor. No detectable hops. I also have some serious issues with the yeast flavor in this beer. Lots of extrenuous flavors. chimpscampee (566), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 1.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Updated: Jan 16, 2007Diabetes in a bottle. Revolting artificial, sickly, cloying sweet lactic taste. Just awful and bland flavor and sour finish. Drain poured it. I love stout and this is second worse I’ve tried. The bottle I tried to drink says brewed in Ohio, supervised by whitbread brewery in England, so I decide to try it. Yet this site says Boston Beer Co, who is apparently to embarrassed to even admit on the label it is their brew. Just like the macro brewer it is, Sam Adams has to hide its identity to dup people into buying this. As hard as Sam Adams trys to advertise otherwise, this is an example of their cheap macro product and strategy. molassesfan (201), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 8, 2007 Pours black with a dark tan head that vanishes but laces. Aroma of vanilla custard, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is much the same. Full mouthfeel but palate is a bit thin. Balanced finish. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 8, 2007 Bottle Black pour with decent carbonation and quick dying dirty brown head. Sweet aroma with some roasted malt and chocolate. Sweet chocolate, caramel, and coffee flavor. Light watery palate, thin body. Good brew, but too thing.
