Overwhelming smell of coffee and burnt chocolate, tastes like burnt coffee and chocolate, feels slimy on the palate. Not something I’d drink again. fuzznuts1 (6), USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2006 Almost had to help it out of the bottle. Had a thick brown head that left pretty quickly. had a chocolatey, burny, almost smoky aroma. Nice and sweet, espresso flavor. incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA

Indeed quite a heavy beer, only can drink about two and boom, your full. Fairly cheap, about 8 bucks for a sixer... mtdshn (174), Moline, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2006 Bottle. Pours with a pretty large head. Very dark color. Caramel, coffee, light sugar and toasted nut flavor. A heavy beer, not something I’d drink year round. Great example of a swet stout. KUEric (632), Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA

While it was good and I enjoyed it, its far from the most complex beer I’ve had. Those two flavors dominated the taste and aroma alike. Some malt precense as well. Good beer, not great. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 14, 2006 Pours brown black with the stream from the bottle being practically black. Decent thin dark tan head. Fruity raspberry/strawberry and obvious malt. I think the fruit is coming from the lactose, which is also making this rather sweet smelling. Smooth, a little creamy, though a bit too watery to win points in this category. The flavors align nicely with the aromas. Immediately sweet and chocolatey on the tongue with more of that fruit. A hint of bitterness, which I don’t think is coming from hops, but from the roasted hops. Still, there’s something a little floral in there that might be some sort of gentle hopping. The lingering fruitiness and roastiness are rather pleasant, though perhaps a bit too acidic. Nice brew all round, beats Young’s Double chocolate hands down. tcruicks (282), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 14, 2006 A great looking dark chocolatey brown in color with a brown head that doesnt last long. Smells like raspberry and caramel, malty and a bit of alcohol. Its creamy in texture with little carbonation, and has very roasty flavours, very sweet (but not fruity like in the aroma), some chocolate, some marshmallow. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 11, 2006 Bottle. Poured black with an orange-brown head that disappeared quickly. The aroma was coffee and chocolate with some roast and wood. The flavor found milk chocolate, toffee, and was somewhat sweet. Light body and somewhat thin for a stout.
