fredandboboflo (471), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 23, 2008 Bottle. Luscious aroma of bitter chocolate, cocoa powder, roasted malt, mellow (but still rich) coffee, alcohol, some doughiness. Flavor just continues to bring on more and more surprises for a 4.9% brew, all in the chocolate/dessert department. There remained something odd about the brew to me, after all the rich, sweet stout flavors, the finish had a nearly dopplebock feel to me, not really actually, I just can’t put my finger on it and that’s the best I could come up with. In any event, something just didn’t jive with me, but still a very, very rich and intriguing brew that I’ll be having again.
apshah99 (80), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 20, 2008 Dark black pour with a tan bubbly head. Aroma is weak, with hints of cream, malt, and cocoa. Tastes of smokey roasted malt and mild coffee with a milky chocolate finish. Dessert and coffee all rolled up into one! rkuhnel (1096), Eureka, California, USA Aug 5, 2008 Form a 12 oz bottle from a World Beers box, this poured dark and black with moderate tan head and good lacing. Noe of coffee and chocolate. Rich and cream mouthfeel. Flavor of roasted malts with chocolate. Slightly bitter finish. Very good. timsilvia32 (198), born in Michigan, North Carolina, USA Aug 4, 2008 Black pour, small cream colored head. Very malty, creamy, sweet. I don’t get as much chocolate as others here however. Nothing to balance this out. Full bodied. Definetely a sweet stout. Take it or leave it. gotohelunc (356), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Aug 2, 2008 Bottle. Rich black color with a strong, tan head. Muted nose of coffee and cocoa powder. Smoky, roasty flavors with a thick, but not too thick mouthfeel. Not a terribly memorable stout and could use more bitterness to even out the roasted flavors. Quite drinkable and solid. Beerman6686 (680), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 30, 2008 Poured a very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma was of lots of chocolate mainly, and some mild cappucino. Flavor iwas very sweet, too sweet, not enough bittering at all
