Cask at the Southsider, Edinburgh. Vintage notes from January 1997. Digging out these old notes because this beer seems to be retired. No great loss. Sweet and malty. Minimal hop influence. Sickly stuff. Didn’t like it at all. According to my notes it was 4.1% way back then for what its worth. 3/10 on my old scoring system. Made at the old Maclay brewery (long since gone) in Alloa back in those days of course.

Bottled. Ruby red with moderate head and condition. Aromas of malt and buttery hop. More roast malt in the mouth and a smokiness that wasn`t apparent in the nose, finishing sweet and malty
