sunevdj (1550), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Mar 3, 2007 Pours a clear golden with a white head. Big citrus-fruity hops aromas. Only slight maltyness (could have a bit more IMHO). Medium bodied. Nice carbonation. Short malty, long fruity finnish. Most hoppy beer I´ve had in NZ. mpeve (28), Bolwarra, Australia Jul 21, 2007 Passsionfruit aromas, golden colour with a medium white head. Hop flavours and a medium bitterness. A really fruity beer, perfect for a session on a hot summer’s day Stew41 (906), Caulfield, Australia Sep 2, 2007 Updated: Oct 31, 2007Really impressive due to the awesome hop treatment that leaves such a strong impression right through the palate. Big herbal / nettle hit early followed up with a grainy, wheat-like character. The obvious peer is the Wanaka Brewski but I think this is a better beer.

Sept 2007 (3.1)
Massive white fizzy head settles quickly. Light golden amber on colour, quite boring actually. Herbal nose with cut grass, pongy, faint spices with tropical fruit and faint passionfruit. Palate and flavours had mixed results. More herbal notes with sweetish fruits but I could also pick a ’off’ flavour of stale bread. I’m probably being a bit harsh given it was so faint but just enough to distract me. Notwithstanding a fairly tidy drop. highlandlad (1207), Sydney, Australia Jul 19, 2007 Another of the light, fruity pilseners that the Kiwis do so well. It’s certainly not as "big" as the name suggests - more of a crooner than a rocker. Lucid gold with a dollop of foam. Classic NZ tropical fruit aroma - bit soapy, bit green, with strong passionfruit and gooseberry. Couldn’t smell the crystal malt, which I’d take as a positive with this style. Soft mouthfeel. Lovely restrained tropical fruit flavours, with the hops working in harmony with the malts, rather than competing for attention. Perhaps a little crude and grainy but redeemed by those lovely NZ hops. Moderate bitterness for a bright, refreshing finish. This is very sessionable and perfect summer drinking. The best of the few Macs I’ve had to date but that may change with a trip to NZ in a month or two. I liked this a lot. (330ml bottle from Vintage Cellars, Clovelly. BB 1/2/08) madquacker (545), Canberra ACT, Australia Apr 25, 2007 A big well held fluffy head and citrus aromas. Very nicely balanced but full on hoppy flavour, with some good saltiness at the end. A good but different form of pils.
