HugoPotomus (8), New Zealand does not count Jun 26, 2008 Mcs used to be the best in the country. Now they have optimised the beers (for profit) and closed the original brewery, though they still claim to be "Nelson Based". This beer is still pretty good compared to whats available in most bottle shops, compared to Montieths the Macs brand has lost less flavour and tastes less macro. Not very bitter but well balanced the Saaz and toasty malt work well together to create something that lets you know its beer. RichardGretton (2613), Leicestershire, England Apr 4, 2008 Draught at Macs Brewbar, Wellington, New Zealand. Reddish brown beer with a malty and lightly roasted aroma. The flavour is well hopped and toffee. Overall a reasonable hopped and bitter beer. Plimmer (240), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 23, 2008 Bottle 33cl. Clear amber colored body with a dense white head. Fruit and malt in the nose. Caramel and roasted malt in flavour. Nice beer. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 7, 2008 (Bottle 33 cl) Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some lacing. Fresh, citrusy nose. A little thin in the body with flavours of caramel and nuts, but never sweet. Dry finish with a light touch of hops. Very well made actually. 290108 NoiZe (893), Zeist, Netherlands Jan 16, 2008 I’ve had this one in New Zealand on my honeymoon. Visited the brewery too.
