Very fragrant hop nose, loads of citrus oil and greenstick character. Hops are in the drivers seat across the palate, aromatic and fruity, balanced by a light cushion of sweet toffee malts. Slightly nutty, not too sweet and not too bitter. Flavourful but quite light. Very nice! sdriessen (203), Dunedin, New Zealand

Quite a hoppy, orange citrus nose.
Flavours are very malty, but with a strong hop bitterness all the way through.
Strong toffee presence. Quite fruity as well (raspberry and apple). Finishes dry with relatively strong hops.
Clean, flavoursome, and very easy drinking. My favourite Mac’s so far. Choos (504), Taylors Hill, Australia

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 31, 2008 Aroma of citrus with a crystal malt background. Red/Coppery in colour with meduim head retention and carbonation.
Flavour is sweet nz saaz hops with a astringent malt background.
Not a bad beer but hop profile is to sickly sweet and malt astringency doesnt work for me. Now they have optimised the beers (for profit) and closed the original brewery, though they still claim to be "Nelson Based". This beer is still pretty good compared to whats available in most bottle shops, compared to Montieths the Macs brand has lost less flavour and tastes less macro. Not very bitter but well balanced the Saaz and toasty malt work well together to create something that lets you know its beer. RichardGretton (3145), Leicestershire, England
