(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, amber golden with a creamy, off-white head leaving some lacing. Fresh, citrusy nose. A little thin in the body with flavours of caramel and nuts, but never sweet. Dry finish with a light touch of hops. Very well made actually. 290108

Draught at Smuggler’s, Nelson. Clear brownish amber. Light mangolike hop aroma. Medium sweet with fairly light body and clean mouthfeel. Vague notes of paper. Grassy hops and licorice dominate the finish.

Reddish copper colour, thin white head. Spicy/woody hop aroma, some caramel. Flavour is quite hoppy. Woody goldings come through on the palate with a long moderately bitter finish.

Draught at Macs Brewbar, Wellington, New Zealand. Reddish brown beer with a malty and lightly roasted aroma. The flavour is well hopped and toffee. Overall a reasonable hopped and bitter beer.

Pours an inviting burnt orange with a moderate foamy white head. Very fragrant hop nose, loads of citrus oil and greenstick character. Hops are in the drivers seat across the palate, aromatic and fruity, balanced by a light cushion of sweet toffee malts. Slightly nutty, not too sweet and not too bitter. Flavourful but quite light. Very nice!

Lovely red colour with a big beaded and lasting head. Dry aroma of Saaz hops. Taste is light and simple, more hops to this bitter than you would expect but without them this would really disappoint.

From tap at brewery pub. Brown-red colour with a small head. Hoppy aroma with hints of blackcurrent. The taste didn’t quite live up to the aroma though. Quite malty, I got (burnt) caramal flavours. But was also very carbonated, but maybe that is more the pub’s fault (but it is at the brewery). Not bad, but there is better in NZ of its kind.
