Nice hops on the nose, citrusy tropical fruitiness to it, passionfruit like, APA-like indeed. Pours a clean amber body with offwhite head and lace. Body is a bit leaner than I hoped but palate has decent length with a decent amount of biscuity nutty malt and a complexity of zest citrus and tropical fruit hop character; i’m reminded of pineapples, passionfruit, lychees, grapefruit, lemon, unexpectidly fruity. Finishes reasonably dry and bitter. I quite like this one, some extra body would make it very nice indeed. bozoNZ (507), Christchurch, New Zealand

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 21, 2007 Sampled on Flashy’s tour of LA, New Zealand and Hong Kong of September/October 2007 - This was one of the best beers I tried in NZ. Very, very distinctive. Like a very good and hoppy and malty UK bitter, if a tad sweeter. I could knock these back one after t’other, and I did! winkle (453), Brisbane, Australia
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 12, 2005 Bottled: Big hoppy nose followed by dominate hop flavours and finishing with a bigish bitter finish. IBUs must be up around 35. There is some malt for balance - not a bad hoppy bitter. donfardz64 (441), Wellington, New Zealand
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2009 On tap at the brewery bar. Pours copper red, off white head. Aroma is quite hopped, fruity and has a soft spice. Full bodied flavour, a good hop bitterness came through with this tap version (bottles can be lacking in hops). Soft spice, biscuty. Quite nice. kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Dec 24, 2007 Updated: Dec 29, 2007It’s gone downhill.....used to be a full bodied malty and hoppy brew but has suffered a takeover by a macro. Mouthfeel and flavour has certainly taken a dive but it still smells good....ah well better than lion red i guess! It’s got really dry in the finish which is very disappointing.
Just wandered past the brewery and had a look through the window...lo and behold as i suspected an enormous vat of liquid sugar! It’s generally the way, Macro takes over Micro and the first thing they do to maximise profits is to cheapen the ingredients! Plimmer (251), Frederiksberg, Denmark
