Jan 31, 2009 Aroma: fresh hop caramel and crystal malt. Appearance: red with a smallish just off white head. Flavour: hint of chocolate with a nice balanced hop overtone and plenty or malt.

Jan 5, 2009 On tap 01.05.09. Amber ruby, off white head. Aroma is malty & hoppy. Flavor is the same with caramel. A decent and smooth bitter blend, on the light side.

Jun 26, 2008 Mcs used to be the best in the country. Now they have optimised the beers (for profit) and closed the original brewery, though they still claim to be "Nelson Based". This beer is still pretty good compared to whats available in most bottle shops, compared to Montieths the Macs brand has lost less flavour and tastes less macro. Not very bitter but well balanced the Saaz and toasty malt work well together to create something that lets you know its beer.

Feb 23, 2008 Bottle 33cl. Clear amber colored body with a dense white head. Fruit and malt in the nose. Caramel and roasted malt in flavour. Nice beer.

Nov 17, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a large off white head over a burnt orange body. Aroma of maltly nuttiness balanced with reinous hops. Finishes with a touch of bitterness.

May 3, 2007 I am confused that this is described as a product of a brewpub when it is clearly a commercially available Mac’s beer. Great coppery colour and clean head with a fine whiff of hop. There is a good biscuity flavour and caramel notes which delights the palate. There are a number of flavours that come out but I must say there is something lacking that I found in the Copperhop stablemate that I have had both on tap and in the bottle. This is still good and is well priced that won’t preclude the odd purchase of a sixer.

Apr 11, 2009 Draught at Mac’s Brewbar, Auckland. Pours dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of caramel malt, nuts and fruit. The flavour is caramel malt, nuts and fruit. Good bitterness. Sweet malty finish. A standout from the other average house beers.

SOme interesting if not storng pommy malt aromsa, with a good dash of biscuit and faint hops. Red and tawny tinges pour with slight offwhite head.
Enjoyable, malty flavours,with subtle hops presence.
