Very pretty amber color, with a small, soft looking head.
Nice sweet peach/grapefruit in the nose... very appetizing.
Decent, but kinda plain taste. Nothing sticks out too much, but once in awhile, that's nice. The slighest floral hint in the aftertaste is the strongest this beer gets... which might make is a great session beer, especially for non-beer drinkers.
I must say, while this beer didn't WOW me, I did quite enjoy it. Piney, faintly hoppy, aroma. Light undertone of malt. Pretty well balanced flavor, though unremarkable. Body is a little thin. Pleasant, drinkable, beer. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 22, 2004 This is a very pretty beer witha deep amber hue and off white head. The aroma is malt and hops and this sets up the flavor profile as well. A little hoppy for an Amber ale, but it is from Portland where everything has plenty of hops. Not bad, but largely unremarkable. blank (998), Washington, Washington DC, USA

Scratch that, very hoppy for an amber ale. And the color's funny for an amber, oh well... Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA

lightly malty (cookie), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin, flowers), lightly yeasty (dough), with a light note of dirt/earth, hint of dishrag. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, slightly husky. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, metallic. Nice texture but the mouthfeel is soiled by a metallic twang. Not the cleanest aroma or aftertaste. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 4, 2004 Barely hazy, amber ale with an orange tint. Good retention and lacework. Butterscotch, spruce, grapefruit and clover honey in the nose. The flavor delivers black pepper, chocolate and caramel malt, pine nuts and dried plums. Lightly bitter. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish. TipsyMcStager (946), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Head is fairly thick. Light mouthfeel. Flavour is sweet. Hops are present, but fade in the finish. More flavourful as it warms up. Not spectacular but enjoyable. wulfhere (217), Billings, Montana, USA

Nice frothy head that stays. Not much lace though.
reddish amber color with the instant smell of crystal malts and decent hops--Cascade.
You can definitely smell the hops just as they promise in the description.
The balance is very well maintained in this ale--one of my favorites of the Pac Northwest crowd.
Sweetness with malty overtures, but always hops there to support.
A very nice ale.
