BeerBelcher (717), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 25, 2007 I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. Generally when I see "amber ale," I think "ZZZZZZzzzzzzz," but this one was really pretty good, well-balanced with a nice amount of hop bitterness.
It poured a beautiful copper color with lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of my beer-clean glass. The beer had abundant head that agressively stuck to the side of my glass and slowly and inconsistently faded, starting from the middle of my glass. This beer really was quite attractive. Aroma was surprisingly hoppy with a nice caramel malt smell. Flavor was a very nice balance of Cascade hops and caramel malt. Mouthfeel was nothing extraordinary, but I still thought this beer to be well done.
leeburg (90), Wrangell, Alaska, USA Aug 21, 2008 Ambers generally aren’t my favorite, but this was one of the more enjoyable ones. Reddish beer with fairly ephemeral head, hoppy and malty, easy on the palate. unclemike (351), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. Nice frothy head that stays. Not much lace though. reddish amber color with the instant smell of crystal malts and decent hops--Cascade. You can definitely smell the hops just as they promise in the description. The balance is very well maintained in this ale--one of my favorites of the Pac Northwest crowd. Sweetness with malty overtures, but always hops there to support. A very nice ale.
Sparky27 (519), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Aug 16, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a clear amber with a fast fading off-white head and spotty lacing. Nose is caramel, toffee and some light floral hops. Taste is sweet caramel malt with some resin in the finish. Lighter mouth feel. An ok Amber. italianjohn (82), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2008 Really attractive and great tasting beer had this on tap at the Pyramid Brewery before a Mariners game in Seattle .... a beautiful amber color great malt taste smooth with a slight sweetness that helps it a lot.... the bitterness is minimal and it has a nice fruity taste i had four of these before the game and i was impressed hope this one comes to the east coast Beer_2000 (1195), Kristiansand, Norway Jul 29, 2008 355 ml bottle as MacTarnahans Amber Ale. Amber body with a relatively small off-white head. Moderate aroma of sweet malt and citrus. Flavor is quite typical American amber, maybe with some more caramel impression. Not to impressive, but not bad at all. Quaffable.
