Bottle. Opaque brown-black with a medium head that settles into a nice ring. Spicy chocolate malt, molasses and marshmallow nose. Flavor is smoked chicory coffee and some grassy chocolate. Palate is light-medium, airy-frothy, and is the biggest drawback to this beer.

Peculiar aroma of butt, vanilla, and currants. Yes, that kind of butt. Black color, with a medium brown head. Moderately strong charred oak and dark chocolate flavor with sour currants at mid palate. NIce lasting grassy hop finish with a reappearance of chocolate. Smooth transitions. I would love to have rated it higher, but the bouquet was vile.

Poured clear very dark brown with a small beige head. Roasty coffee aroma with a mild sweetness. The flavor is roasty but dull. Dull mouthfeel. Light bodied.

Very dark, red highlights around the edges and a nice, creamy and long-lasting tan head. Strong coffee aroma with hints of chocolate. Mouthfeel is creamy and carbonated with a lot more coffee, roasted malts and a bit of vanilla towards the finish. Nice body but so-so taste.

Bottle. Very satisfying beer. Thin tan head, pours very dark. Tastes of a roasted malt, with a bit of coffee flavor. A very solid, if unspectacular porter.

Sampled as part of a winter brew pack. Very nice beer. Had a very dark pour with a thick white head. Taste of roasted spices and chocolate are very nice. Highly recommended.
