Brown head which laces the glass. A little thin but very smooth. I got it for Christmas in a sampler from my kids. (They only buy me beer for Christmas.) I would get it again troopie (879), USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Bottle courtesy of kenb! Thanks! Pours pretty much black, with a thin bubbly beige head which quickly disappears. Strong smells of coffee, with a hint of chocholate. Good and malty, with a descent hop backbone. A little on the thin side i think, but then again i just had an impy stout so maybe its just me. Tastes similar to the smell, primarily coffee once again. Not bad. tjthresh (1774), Greenfield, Indiana, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2007 12 oz bottle from a mixer sixer from John’s Grocery in Iowa City. Dark black in color almost no head. Chocolate and coffee roast in the nose, not complex not very big. Coffee chocolate flavors rather flat but a nice creaminess comes out of the bubbles. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Jan 8, 2007 A pitch black appearance with a moderate beige head. The aroma is milk, coffee, and chocolate. The flavor is somewhat bitter and very smooth with a lot of coffee, chocolate, and milk same as the aroma would lead you to believe. A creamy mouthfeel but slightly chalky at the end. Overall this is a nice simple porter.
