Once again MacTarnahan's redefines "smooth". Striking a perfect balance between the classic Northwest and Celtic styles, Blackwatch is a remarkably distintive new style of porter. Poured a dark dark brown. Aroma was roasted and malty. Flavor was of roasted malts butter maybe, and some pine hops Not really sure it i enjoyed this one. Was better as it warmed but wasn’t a top of the line porter by any means.

Another porter in the world. Sure, not bad, but not great or very memorable. The color was dark brown - black, slight mahoganey edges, and a fairly thick and creamy initial head that subsided rather quickly (no lacing at all). The aroma was somewhat sweet and slightly roasted. The flavor was of butter, roasted malts (some coffee?), some molasses, and finished with light hopping (some pine). The butter (which I didn’t enjoy, it was much like some of the english ales I’ve experienced that in) subsided as the beer warmed. Mouthfeel was fairly thin (a knock I have on many a porter). Nothing to seek out, but if you’re serving me one, I won’t reject it.

Pours smooth and dark. Bittersweet chocolate, and a light coffee aroma. Roasted maltiness with a medium bodied mouthfeel and a dry, bitter, slightly hoppy finish. Very smooth and easy drinking. Great porter.

Dark brown pour with a half inch of dark tanned head. Smooth drinking porter has a combination of chocolate, maltiness, coffee tones, and a creaminess. Nicely balanced flavor throughout and finished very well. The bottle I had yesterday was better than the draft a couple of month ago...
