Augh! It tastes like construction paper left in a full rain ditch for a week in August! Gross. eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 7, 2005 Black shot with a deep burnt caramel color, creamy beige head dissipates quickly, strong aroma of coffee, smoke, deeply roasted malt. The flavor is lighter than the aroma suggests but has the promised smooth silky creaminess along with smoke and coffee and an understated bitter twang on the finish. Light-bodied for a porter, a surificial smoke-and-roasted-malt show that dissipates as quickly as the head. But that makes it nicely drinkable, dare I say "less filling"? (o.k., I take that back, really I do) acertain (249), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 4, 2005 I have to refute the "unforgettable rich taste" in the commercial description. I found the taste to be highly forgettable. A completely respectable, if not outstanding, porter. I’d drink it again if offered (or if in a bar with limited choices), but wouldn’t seek it out. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 7, 2005 Poured a very dark black (so they weren’t lying about the color). Definite aroma of chocolate and coffee backed up by a definite flavor of chocolate and coffee. Very heavy, but perhaps too bitter. This beer is very flavorful and should make any fan of a porter happy but it’s a little too overpowering for my tastes.
