The nose is of dark chocolate, mild coffee and French oak. The flavor is well-balanced and offers notes of chocolate, coffee and straw. A bit thin and watery, though. Medium-bodied with feather soft carbonation. Short, roasty, watery finish. A quality session brew for newbies, but the Blackwatch Bourbon Barrel Aged Cream Porter is definitely the better way to go. This one boasts a huge molasses and caramel nose and silky sweet chocolate flavors. Thin, yes, but a flavorful session porter. amx1970390 (466), Southampton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 29, 2004 Poured midnight black with a decent tan head. Fair amount of dark roasted malt in the nose with coffee and dark chocolate lingering. Initial palate was too fizzy, especially when you’re drinking something called a "cream porter". Flavor was that of burnt malt and espresso which was tasty, but quite short-lived. A bit thin and lightweight overall. If you want a "creamy" porter, pour a glass of Anchor. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 21, 2004 Very dark, tan head. Burnt malt aroma, a little coffee. Flavor was kind of burnt again, some chocolate. MOuthfeel was fairly creamy, but also a little thin. Not bad, not great. DanielBrown (1919), Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, England

Pours with an espresso head. Smooth, sweet aroma with a liqueur hint. Short, concentrated flavour burst. Fizzy feel, slightly lemon with an almost powdery quality. Very light, not much finish.
