The smell is choclate malt, toffee. Flavor has a distinctive oatmeal taste. Decent body, high carbonation. Flavor is non-distinctive with a sharp bitterness. Fades away into a mild finish. I'll go along with the crowd here. This beer is not bad. It just ain't good either. jotbeer (5), San Antonio, Texas, USA does not count | 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 25, 2004 Pretty good flavor. Too thin. A little spritzy in cabonation, but not much of a head. Drinkable, but not great. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 10, 2004 Lower tier porter, I fear. Chocolate malt and water - no roasted malt character, far too sweet.... Drew (2410), Kent, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2004 Iced vanilla bean coffee topped with chocolate shavings and whipped cream. Ends with a lactic sour edge and continuing roastyness. Body is thinner than I would have liked, but is a great deep red/black color. willblake (2190), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

The beer is a bit watery on the palate, although smooth-ish, sort of like skim milk; the flavor is uncomplex, like Guiness. In fact, it seems like it wants to be an English style stout more than a NW proter.. Undistinctive, but drinkable. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA

Enjoyed this very much, will add to my session beer list. ¾ (5006), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2004 A soft creamy aroma, and a smooth body make this one nice. Better than average, but not outstanding. Flavors center around a creamy coffee and the finish is a robust and smoky chocolate. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

Now if The badger's could score, life would be perfect (well, once the pizza gets here).
