Commercial Description:
Once again MacTarnahan's redefines "smooth". Striking a perfect balance between the classic Northwest and Celtic styles, Blackwatch is a remarkably distintive new style of porter. With expert use of malted barley, unmalted grains and oatmeal, Blackwatch Cream Porter delivers unforgettable rich taste and smooth texture.

The color of garnet, this one pours with a nice brown foam but that quickly disappears. The smell is choclate malt, toffee. Flavor has a distinctive oatmeal taste. Decent body, high carbonation. Flavor is non-distinctive with a sharp bitterness. Fades away into a mild finish. I'll go along with the crowd here. This beer is not bad. It just ain't good either.

Pretty good flavor. Too thin. A little spritzy in cabonation, but not much of a head. Drinkable, but not great.

Lower tier porter, I fear. Chocolate malt and water - no roasted malt character, far too sweet....

Iced vanilla bean coffee topped with chocolate shavings and whipped cream. Ends with a lactic sour edge and continuing roastyness. Body is thinner than I would have liked, but is a great deep red/black color.

Eh. I could be kind and call the flavors subtle in this brew, but I'd rather vent. The beer is a bit watery on the palate, although smooth-ish, sort of like skim milk; the flavor is uncomplex, like Guiness. In fact, it seems like it wants to be an English style stout more than a NW proter.. Undistinctive, but drinkable.

Not real complex, but offers a subtle coffee with roasted malt to go along with it's smooth creamy texture and clean finish. Enjoyed this very much, will add to my session beer list.

A soft creamy aroma, and a smooth body make this one nice. Better than average, but not outstanding. Flavors center around a creamy coffee and the finish is a robust and smoky chocolate.

Just got to my buddies place on New Years Eve in time for the Badger Bowl game, and this was waiting in the fridge for me. Now if The badger's could score, life would be perfect (well, once the pizza gets here).
