Mild chocolate tones with a dark appearance. Mixed flavor and palate that seem to miss it's intention. Finish is thin and odd aftertase.

Black as a night sky with a little muddy head. Very weak chocolate aroma to it. Very smooth and basically tastes like a chocolate wafer, with a very strange wax aftertaste.

A very small sized light brown head with fine-small sized bubbles that quickly dissipated. The body was opaque with carbonation and a dark brown hue. The nose consisted of malt, coffee and some chocolate notes. It had a coffee flavor that left an aftertaste. The palate was smooth and medium-full bodied. There was a fair amount of lacing with this beer. Not a bad beer from this brewer.

For me this was Perfect. Smooth & Chocolately. Start to finish. I think this is the best of the three MacTarnahans I've had yet.

Very dark compared to most porters I've had. Nutty, coffee taste. Probably MacTarnahan's best beer.

This is a very smooth beer. Creamy mouthfeel that makes it go down very smoothly. Very dark beer with mahogany hints and a head like chocolate milk. Aroma is of coffee and chocolate milk. Chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon flavors trail off to a coffee bitter finish. Light body and very easy to drink. Much better than I anticipated.

Black body with red hues when held to light; very thin white head. Subtle chocolate, coffee and sweet malt aromas with the chocolate being the most strong. Very thin for a porter. Flavor is chocolate malts, bittering coffee with a tad bit of vanilla. Coffee is the strongest flavor, and ultimately that dominates the aftertaste. This beer was just ok, im surprised by its rating being anywhere near the Sam Smith Taddy Porter which would win a flavor battle with this beer by about 8 to 1. Still, this wasn't a bad beverage so go ahead and try it. I had mine at the Brickskellar in Washington, DC.
