| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 9, 2003 Dark brown color with tan head and roasted corn aroma. Cloyingly bitter burnt flavor. Body is thin for a porter. Finishes heavy on black malt with a touch of dark chocolate. This lacks any complexity. Tastes too much like burnt water, if there is such a thing. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2004 Updated: May 14, 2008Clear, very dark, garnet ale with a mid-sized, creamy, well-tanned head. The nose is of dark chocolate, mild coffee and French oak. The flavor is well-balanced and offers notes of chocolate, coffee and straw. A bit thin and watery, though. Medium-bodied with feather soft carbonation. Short, roasty, watery finish. A quality session brew for newbies, but the Blackwatch Bourbon Barrel Aged Cream Porter is definitely the better way to go.
