Blast from the past here. Dark amber pour with light white head. Very sweet smelling, fruits and malt with very little hop action. Same thing in the flavor, very much a sweeter moderate abv beer. Not really my thing then and definitely not now.

Had this beer on 1/12/2000. Aroma is a rich sweet malt scent. Color is a rich bright amber, carbonation is light with good head. Taste is full and roasted. Starting with a full body it goes down smooth and rich. Finish is a deep roasted flavor backed with a strong hop bitterness. Overall it seems to be a good winter brew.

Pours a nice dark reddish amber color. Aromas of HOPS, and some other hints, maybe fruit, maybe caramel. Flavor is a bittersweet, malty, and hoppy with a nice dry finish.

Pours the color of mud. Heavy malt and caramel aroma. Rich malt in the taste with a bit of sweetness and almost a pinch of salt. Simple, but kinda tasty!

An interesting brew that i found the other day but hasn’t been around for a while. Pours a dark copper red, very clear, with a white head. Aroma is very strong and sweet, just like a well aged barleywine, big caramel malts, brown sugar. Taste was a big letdown though, very thin body with much less sweetness. There was a bit of oxidation in the finish and some faint spicing. I think this brew is a bit past its prime.

Chestnut color with hues of garnet. Beige smallish head. Spicy hops and moderate malt nose. Roasted and caramel malts with a acidic hop bite. Some light fruits mid quaff. Light feel.

2001 bottling. Beautiful mahogany colored beer that pours with a respectable beige head. The head fades quickly and leaves a slight lace on the glass. The aroma of this beer is superb. Caramel and a hint of spiciness, yet very refreshing and crisp. The aroma makes you feel a need to drink this beer. The first sip is packed with roasted nut and malt flavors. It has a very full mouthfeel that wraps your tongue in sweetness. Then, when you decide to finally swallow, the hops express a touch of bitterness and clean the palate. A hint of nutty sweetness slips in on the aftertaste, but it is very subtle. Subsequent sips present the same sweetness, with the hops being a little more noticable.
