2001 bottling. Beautiful mahogany colored beer that pours with a respectable beige head. The head fades quickly and leaves a slight lace on the glass. The aroma of this beer is superb. Caramel and a hint of spiciness, yet very refreshing and crisp. The aroma makes you feel a need to drink this beer. The first sip is packed with roasted nut and malt flavors. It has a very full mouthfeel that wraps your tongue in sweetness. Then, when you decide to finally swallow, the hops express a touch of bitterness and clean the palate. A hint of nutty sweetness slips in on the aftertaste, but it is very subtle. Subsequent sips present the same sweetness, with the hops being a little more noticable.

Big malt/hop aroma. Thick rocky head, dark ruby color. Slightly hop dominated flavor but with great fullness and a subtle ginger spiciness. Dry malt finish.

A beer that poured a very small sized tan head that contained fine-small sized bubbles that quickly dissipated.The body was hazy and carbonated with a brown hue.The nose consisted of malt, fruit, and possibly some spice.It had a slightly bitter flavor and some alcohol was noted as well.The mouthfeel of this beer was smooth, tingly and medium bodied.This beer had very little lacing.

This brew poured a small head of finely sized off-white mostly disappearing bubbles that left behind a fair lacing and a uncarbonated hazy brown colored body. The aroma is a mild malt hop mix with few little roasted notes thrown in for variety. The mouthfeel is motth with a mild tingly to it and a noticeable mild alcohol finish. The flavor is of roasted malts and mildly hopped with some spiceyness thrown in for good measure.

Hazy brown hue with small head and some lacing. Very sweet and fruity nose with smoke and spicy undertones. Taste was not a spicy as expected, more along with the sweet smoky flavor, some bitter bite on the finish. Dry feel yet, strangely syrupy and soft on the palate. medium to full-bodied. Alcohol well hid. A very muddled beer, something just doesn't work right. May try it again this winter to see if it improves.

Nice brown color,small head that had some staying power.Nice malty aroma with a slight hop presence.Very malty taste,sweet at first but that fades to a some what bitter finish with an ok amount of hops.I guess i don't really notice the alcohol with all the malt it appears to stay fairly hidden.i had to go through a little trouble to get this brew.The guy had to climb into the cooler and move a bunch of cases to get at this one and needless to say he didn't look to happy.Oh well a dirty look paid off in this instance and was worth the try in this case.this was a pretty decent brew and worth the trouble to get.

I want to say bitter-caramel, but I don't know if that would make sense. The malts are strong, but there's a hop/Dirt presence that brings in some balance. Lots of spice flavors in this. Has a grainy palate.
