Dark black, with a solid thick brown eggshell white head. Aroma of fertilizer and maybe some plastic chocolates. Weird flavor to say the least, tastes like plastic with a hint of chocolate. Where is the fucking bourbon? Just another money gimic, fuck the aroma and body are good, so if only it tasted good, this would be legit.

Deep burgundy/brown. Aroma of rye, marshmallows, dark chocolate and pecans. Flavor is full and very creamy with a slightly sour, sharply roasty finish. The bourbon comes through in the exhale. Quite salty and smoky.

just a hint of brown around the edges. tight little brown head. A cream porter, sure, but woody, salty, oaky and winey. tastes, well, burboney! imagine that. way burboney. Peatey, smokey, charcoaley, spicy burbon.

22 oz classy screen printed brown bottle. This beer is very dark, almost pitch black except for some glimpses of mahogany as I held it to the light, lucsious creamy tan had that sticks around..nice looking beer indeed. The aroma is of dark roasted malts ,followed by a woody whiskey aroma..then cream and liquorice. Great taste to this beer also..sweet smooth malts, then dark fruits ( blackberry) then the taste of bourbon shows up like a ghost, then its gone and a bitter coffee taste is present..hints of vanilla..tart aftertaste..fantastic stuff. Very nice and smooth on the tongue..could be a touch thicker. Im my opinion a great porter from McTarnahans. I hope the takeover will not result in the end of the great "experimental" beers seen recently. Recommened even at $6 a bottle.

A tart sweet aroma of roasted malts and bourbon tantalize the nose. The palate affirms the olfactory perceptions as the dark smooth liquid finds its way home. Really nice.

22 oz. capped bottle [2003 version]: dense, pillowy brown cream atop a dark red-prune liquid. The malted roastiness, caramel, molasses, buttered popcorn and single barrel whiskey stick in the air around the glass. Outrageously creamy mouthfeel, but the body is thinner than I would have expected after the aroma. Flavours are nice, but not full; vanilla, roasted and slightly burnt chocolate, sweet and lightly bitter mocha with plenty of whip cream. . .the whiskey barrel created a long, dry, bitter finish that offers a touch of sweetness and plenty of alcohol. I enjoyed this one quite a bit – not too much bourbon (which seems to be pretty hard to do), smooth creamy palate, and good flavours.

Aroma: sweet, musty, creamy smell with suggestions of dark coffee and dark/chocolate malts. hints of earthiness. Appearance: incredibly dark, small, foamy head. Flavor: sweet, creamy, thick chocolate flavors. Finish includes a piney bite and slightly sour milk aftertaste--not a bad one though. Palate: smooth, creamy on the tip of the tongue. Tingles in the back with a sharp earthly bite. Overall: a very drinkable beer.
