Lots of coffee, mocha, butter, bourbon, and cask wood. Deep black with a deep tan head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter finish. Medium body, watery/creamy texture, average carbonation. The bottom line is: aroma is excellent, but the flavor only manages to be very good.

A fantastic whiskey and coffee aroma. A solid black apperance with an off white head. The flavor is very interesting with a mixture of burbon, soy sauce, coffee, and chocolate. The body is a little thin on this one but that was the only real complaint I have about it. Nice one!

Nearly black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted barley, and primarliy smokey bourbon. Malty whiskey flavor leads into some smooth chocolate maltiness. Finish has some woody notes cocoa and a mellow bourbon flavor. Not a bad brew, but a little over rated in my opinion.

A bit of a thin bodied porter without the bourbon taste any of us were expecting. Nice vanilla, light chocolate and creamy smooth. Quite good

Nice brew. I don’t think I am as excited about it as others though. Besides the typical porter attributes there is a slight woodiness and a hint of bourbon bite in the finish. Easy to drink and enjoyable.

07.20.04 Bottle. Dark cola brown with think head. Aromas are sweet and rich. Notes of liquor candies, nuts, somewhat earthy. Flavor is musty, coffee, peat. Woody and lightly acidic. More nuts. Thin but coating mouthfeel, a bit sticky on the lips. Nice stuff, but not all it’s cracked up to be. I fear my bottle may not be as good as it could have been.

I’ve had this only once. I bought a bottle and fell in love immediately upon opening it. When I went back for more it was gone. Woe is me....

Burgundy-black body with a semi-loose tan head. Great aroma of blackberries, coffee, chocolate truffles and hops. Cask influence comes through very prominently. Full flavor has a fruity tang like plums and dark rum elements. Palate is a little spritzy but nonetheless this is a terrific porter. Thanks for the great beer slikwily.
