Commercial Description:
Mac Frost is a big, rich beer in the tradition of English strong ales. We begin with pale and Munich malt along with three varieties of caramel malt for gusto and big, creamy flavor. For balance we add Northern Brewer hops for bitterness and East Kent Goldings for aroma. We take it even further in the finish by dry-hopping Mac Frost with Oregon’s own Willamette hops and English Colthup Goldings. The result is tantalizing; a big beer that delivers with savory malts and complex, lingering hop spice on the tongue and in the nose. This beer will complement your holiday cheer like no other.

2003 bottle, deep and clear dark amber color with a creamy off-white head that leaves a good lacing in my glass. Spicy aromas, spicy and fruity vanilla flavors with a good dose of hops. Medium body with a crisp mouthfeel, good carbonation, finishes dry with a nice bitterness, a great winter

Deep red with poofy head. Macro-airy nose. The flavor is sharp at first, sweet and caramel. Maybe some dark fruits. Smooth to the mouth. Decent ale.

Sweet chocolate and cherry aroma. A little bitter mouthfeel, with a nice wood, nut and dark fruit flavor throughout. Not bad.

Aroma: Coco, coffee, and dark malts; little fruitiness and slight alcohol smell Appearance: dark, cherry red tint Flavor: hoppy, sort of like eating coco powder out of the jar--sweet bitterness, also slight spicy herb flavor. Palate: lots of bite, smooth in the beginning then bites the back of the tongue. Overall Impression: not bad for a hoppy holiday beer, would prefer something more smooth with more body.

Malty nose, spicey aroma. Flavor is smooth with a hoppy finish. Nice lacing. Red/brown appearance--slightly foamy with a little retention. Hopt flavor and bitterness well balanced nicely with malt flavor.

Deep copper color. Off-white head. Aroma of caramel. Sweetish. Taste was a combination of sweetness and bitterness. Quite good.

Head went away rather quickly. Dark brown/tan in color with a little lacing towards the top of the glass. Some nice roasted malt aromas with a few hop smells tossed in for good measure. The palate was smooth with some nice smoked malt and a little hop bitterness at the end. This is pretty good for a winter ale.
