Commercial Description:
Mac Frost is a big, rich beer in the tradition of English strong ales. We begin with pale and Munich malt along with three varieties of caramel malt for gusto and big, creamy flavor. For balance we add Northern Brewer hops for bitterness and East Kent Goldings for aroma. We take it even further in the finish by dry-hopping Mac Frost with Oregon’s own Willamette hops and English Colthup Goldings. The result is tantalizing; a big beer that delivers with savory malts and complex, lingering hop spice on the tongue and in the nose. This beer will complement your holiday cheer like no other.

An ok amber-colored beer. It reminded me of a barleywine for some reason.

Pours a lovely deep ruby color with a small tan head. Nose is malted with a nice hop accent to it. The taste is spice with more hop character. The spice seems muddled. Can't seem to nail it down. There's cinnamon or nutmeg and maybe a caramel note or two. Spiced and bitter mouthfeel and finish. Decent beer but nothing I'll drink a lot of at any point in time.

Ok pours a nice clear brown with garnet accents..lovelly tan head .goes fast to leave gorgeous lacing lovelly looking ale. Great scent to the beer spice and caramel malts..fresh. Good taste also..starts with fresh malty sweetness followed by lemony citrus flavour,,and a spruce like briskness..bitter hop finish. pretty good on the palate not too heavy. I liked this beer a lot..had it last year..this is better..good attempt at a rare style.

2003. Fluffy light tan head atop a clear brown body. Rye bread, yeast(lightly moldy), caramel, cloves, and orange zest in the aroma. Sweeter start and metalic finish. This is more in the style of Burgerbrau Fest. Lacks body and feel, but the flavors are there. Finish is bitter and biting. Middle flavors are quite nice with caramel, light citrus, mild light fruits and touch of juniper berries. Very good effort.

Caramel and citrus combined, darker amber color. Finish is kind of sweet, interesting seasonal.

Similar in production to other brews by this brewery. Very rough bockish malts like graded sand paper.

Nothing like a Winter seasonal in June! Hints of vanilla are faint and normal characteristics of wheat beer is also faint. A terribly strong malt taste that took some points off from me. Not sweet malts, but stronger more biting malts that just don't go down as easy.

A zesty WeizenBock that beats out Hopf Weisser Bock in a head-to-head tasteoff. Milder and maltier with some sourness and sweetness. Kudos to this brewery, which I truly respect, for pulling off a difficult and rarely-imitated style. Slightly sour and very nice!
