| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 20, 2005 Sampled at a 2005 Christmas and Winter beer tasting at Delilah’s, Chicago, IL. 2003 vintage. Clear brown ale having a small diminishing white head. No discernable carbonation. Good sweet malt aroma. Thin-to-medium body that starts with a spicy, chocolate, light toasty malt candy flavor, similar to chocolate-coated malt candy balls that I used to eat as a kid. Finishes dry with light malt aftertaste. Though I found this beer to be somewhat thin in texture, this is a good drinkable beer. DrnkMcDermott (1861), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 17, 2005 Bottle, 2004 vintage, from the Wild Oats store in Westmont, IL. Very nice hoppy, malty smell when poured. Kicks up a spongy foam head over a brown, slightly hazy body. Taste is a good Pacific interpretation of an English ale: bready and caramel malt character, but with a spicy hop load. hadn’t noticed when I got it last month that this is over a year old. It does show some signs of aging in the malt profile as I drink a bit further down. Can’t taste the alcohol, but its effect is very much there. It’s a great holiday beer all around. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 11, 2005 This was an awesome Winter Warmer. The strong hops was the only flaw but a northwest beer will always have hops. The strong malt character and the floral flavors where awesome. Good strong brown color with a great head. I liked this beer and it was a great way to start the cold night. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 9, 2005 Bottle. Pours a deeper brown color, clear, hints of ruby when backlit. Smallish off-white head forms and fades, good lacing is left behind. Aroma is nicely caramelish, sweetish with a touch of spices? Some floral/earthy hop presence in the nose. Medium bodied at best. Flavor just falls flat for me. Rather watery, malt just doesn’t cut it. More bitterness than anything dominates the flavor. A dull, earthy flavor of hops lingers for a bit in aftertaste. Rather unexciting.
