Commercial Description:
Mac Frost is a big, rich beer in the tradition of English strong ales. We begin with pale and Munich malt along with three varieties of caramel malt for gusto and big, creamy flavor. For balance we add Northern Brewer hops for bitterness and East Kent Goldings for aroma. We take it even further in the finish by dry-hopping Mac Frost with Oregon’s own Willamette hops and English Colthup Goldings. The result is tantalizing; a big beer that delivers with savory malts and complex, lingering hop spice on the tongue and in the nose. This beer will complement your holiday cheer like no other.

Portland Holiday Ale Festival 2004. Ruby/orange deep amber colour, thick sticky lace, light tan. Sweet malt, spicy, brown sugar, toffee, light raisin. Very tasty, brown sugar, toffee, spicy finish. Slightly sticky mouthfeel. Bready flavour.

Pours a light brown color with traces of amber. Aroma is malty with just a hint of wheat. Flavor is malty and has a sweet tart sort of flavor.

Dark and heady with a strong sorgham and vegetable sweetness with a bite of deep roasted malts. Aroma is a foul licorice and barnyard touch like a strong version of Anchor Christmas Ale. Overall, a strange experience but fairly tasty. May be past its prime.

Nice light tan head, that is supringly lasting for a Mac brew. Body is a nice brown. Aroma is spiced with caramel, slightly nutty. Kinda watery, slightly metallic with brown sugar and there is a background that presents itself in alcohol.

pretty impressed for a Mac’s product. This Winter ale is good. Deep dark red color, beige semi creamy head. Has a rich aromatic hop aroma. Taste doesn’t follow aroma well. Taste is dark and roasty with a strong hop pressence.

Sweet malty aroma with caramel and spice. Pours a dark crimson red with a off-white head. Taste starts quickly with a kick of sweetness, warm caramel, and with a spicy edge. The finish on this brew was not all that great leaving a cocoa tasting chalky film behind with a dry bitterness. Still a very warming brew and probably one of mactarnahans better brews.

Aroma of plums, toffee with some light cocoa. Mahogney colored, small white head. Slightly sweet, some very light wheat notes, slight hints of clove and caramel.

2003. Doughy head slowly falls leaving some sugary lacing and some light clumpy head. Dark reddish brown beer. Yummy Barley Wine - like aroma of malt and spices. Very nice flavour, like a cross between a malty Irish Ale and a Barley Wine.
